Alumni Ciels – Sofia: from student to teacher
Sofia: thanks to helpful and kind mentors like the lecturers I met at Ciels, I understood what kind of profession I wanted to pursue and what kind of teacher I wanted to be
Teachers and specialists with whom students interact are important reference people. On the one hand, to approach a topic correctly and, on the other, to learn the best way to approach language study. But so much, in addition to experience, is also the work of the human component and the positive relationship that is established between students and teachers.
Kind and, above all, willing to support students, are the teachers that Sofia, our former Ciels student whom we interviewed, met on her journey, who supported her so much that they became a model for her current profession as a teacher.
What is your name and what profession do you have now?
Good morning everyone, my name is Sofia and I am now an English teacher at a secondary school.
Why did you choose Ciels Campus?
I chose Ciels Campus because I was immediately intrigued by the idea of combining the language course with a specialized programme, i.e. in addition to the study of languages, a more specific and straightforward course that would allow students to follow their interests and passions.
What did you find unexpected that struck you?
What struck me, in the 3 years I attended Ciels, was the unity, the helpfulness of the lecturers, but also the beauty of campus life, from the relationship with lecturers to that with colleagues and fellow students.
It was truly a stimulating and interesting experience.
How has Ciels helped you in your current profession?
Ciels has helped me in my current profession, because it made me realize first of all what I wanted to do in life and having each of the lecturers always available and kind, helped me understand what kind of lecturer I wanted to be.
It also helped me a lot to have smaller groups for lessons. So to be seen by the lecturer not as a number, but really as a person and to be evaluated on everything.
