What the test is like
The PLIDA exam is divided into the six levels proposed in the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):
Italiano elementare PLIDA A1 A1 QCE (Livello di contatto)
PLIDA A2 A2 QCE (Livello di sopravvivenza)
Italiano intermedio PLIDA B1 B1 QCE (Livello soglia)
PLIDA B2 B2 QCE (Livello progresso)
Italiano avanzato PLIDA C1 C1 QCE (Livello dell’efficacia)
PLIDA C2 C2 QCE (Livello di padronanza)

 

Who can take the examination

The PLIDA certificate is intended for people whose mother tongue is not Italian. The PLIDA exam is also open to all Italian or foreign citizens whose mother tongue is Italian who need a certificate of competence in Italian for study, work or other reasons.
With the introduction of Presidential Decree 86 of 14 May 2010, citizens of the Trentino-Alto Adige Region who present a recognised language certificate (PLIDA, CELI, CILS, IT) are exempt from the Italian language examinations for the bilingualism certificate.   • The examination includes the listening, reading, writing and speaking tests.
  • As of 01/01/2022, it is no longer possible to take the A2 (PERMISSION TO STAY) and B1 (CITIZENSHIP) levels for the SPEAKING test alone, but it is necessary to take the A2 STANDARD and B1 STANDARD (4 tests).
  • Sessions are opened on the extranet one month before the exam date. The registration deadline is set FOR ALL STANDARD SESSIONS at 11.59 p.m. on the Wednesday preceding the examinations (Italian time).
  • Passwords for downloading examination materials are sent out on the Friday preceding the examination date.

Receipt of results and final certificate
Results are communicated within 60 working days of the test. To receive the results within approximately 30 working days of the test it is possible to request URGENT CORRECTION.
To take advantage of the URGENT CORRECTION, the candidate must indicate the request on the form and pay an additional fee of € 20.00.
The candidate may only collect the final certificate at the certification centre. No dispatch by post is possible. If they are unable to go to the centre, he/she may appoint a third party by means of a proxy.

 

Individual Skills Recovery
Should the candidate fail one or more of the scheduled skills, they may apply to take the next scheduled examination at the same level for the individual tests they wish to retake.
Please note that the assessment of the skills passed is retained for 18 months from the time of the examination, after which it will be necessary to repeat the examination in full.

Equivalent Certificates
Our centre can issue, at the request of the interested party, an equivalent certificate of passing the exam.
The request should be sent to the following addresses, taking care to specify NAME, SURNAME, LEVEL, SESSION in the subject line:
